Caleb invited me to hang out during his first rehearsal with drummer Jason Butcher. The new songs for his upcoming solo album sound great.
Here’s the before and after of the treatment done to the streetcar image on the website. Clink on image for larger view.

The restored streetcars are open for rides year round.

I spent three mornings of our summer vacation beating the sunrise. My attempt was to shoot long exposures in hopes to see the ocean turn to a white haze where it hits the rocks. This didn’t turn out as expected as the tide never made it high enough. I think my timing was a little off. However I got a nice surprise when a couple of shrimp boats heading out to sea crossed through my frame.
269 sec exposure
I’ve read you shouldn’t go beyond 30 second exposures with most digital sensors due to noise issues. I know that the amount of noise is pretty considerable, however in this situation I think the noise reduction which essentially softens the image works just fine. This will probably not be the case for all images, but I don’t think that digital noise should be the authority on long exposures. Comments welcomed.
